Hartlepool Primary Care Network Launches App
13/03/2020
Doctors in Hartlepool are harnessing mobile phone technology to enable thousands of patients to improve their health and well-being.
The GP practices of Hartlepool have launched an innovative new app across the town called ‘Hartlepool Alive.’ `It has been developed with the collaborative working of all the GP practices and their link workers.
The relatively new role of link workers is attached to every GP practice in the town. They enable people to have more control over their own lives and to develop skills and connections in the community to improve their well-being and help prevent them from being isolated.
The app – one of the first of its kind in the North-east - is designed to be more than a simple health app. It focuses specifically on the town of Hartlepool and provides people with access to a range of activities and community groups in the area.
Dr Jacqueline McKenzie who was part of the group that developed the app said ‘There is something in the Hartlepool Alive app that will appeal to everyone across the town. It covers a variety of areas such as stretches that can be done at home for a painful knee to where to access food banks.’
The app aims to provide information for people across the town to enable a holistic approach to be taken to general well-being. It also gives patients access to further resources and information about advice and support they may require.
Patients can obtain further information about the app by contacting their GP surgery.
The app is available from 12th March 2020.
